Children’s Faith Formation

Parish School of Religion

The Parish School of Religion (PSR) of St. Patrick and St. Malachi Parishes is a faith formation program for students in grades K-8 who do not attend a Catholic school. We also offer a high school program for teens attending any Catholic or non-Catholic school. Registration is required and a fee of $25 helps cover the cost of student materials.

Our children and teens have a lively faith, which must be respected, nurtured, and developed through age-appropriate instruction, prayer, liturgical experience, and formation based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The National Study of Youth and Religion offers a plethora of information on the importance of faith formation in the lives of children and youth, and of a lived and well-articulated faith evident in their parents’ daily life. Youth will tend to believe and practice as their parents have.

RCIA Adapted for Children

Unbaptized children who have reached the age of reason (age seven or older) participate in a form of Rite of Christian Initiation that has been adapted for children. The Rites are the same as for the adults, although the children receive catechesis at school, in PSR, and at home, as well as in a group with a catechist, other children and a parent. Sacraments are received at Easter. Contact Stephanie Pritts at stephanie.p@stmalachi.org or call 216-631-6872 to find out how your child can begin this formation.
