Ascension and Confirmation

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we celebrate the Solemnity of our Lord’s Ascension into Heaven we recall that, through Christ sharing in our humanity, we come to share in his divine life as he returns to the Father in Heaven. We also recall Christ’s promise that his Holy Spirit – advocate and guide – sustains the Church and all of her faithful until he comes again. May this central belief of our faith be a consolation and an invitation to live our lives with confidence and perseverance.

We pray for those who will be receiving their Confirmation this Tuesday at Saint Wendelin when the communities of Saint Patrick, Saint Malachi, and Saint Wendelin gather with Bishop Gries. May our young friends be filled with the sevenfold gifts of that same Spirit who came to rest on the hearts of the apostles and first disciples!

I also want to take this opportunity to wish Marsha Fox, our Parish Secretary, prayerful best wishes as she concludes her time with us at the end of the month. Marsha will be tending to some important family matters that require her time. We will certainly miss Marsha who has faithfully served our parish family for the past couple of years.

Finally, please look for a special letter in your mail. It is an invitation to join us on June 6th for an afternoon of outdoor Eucharistic Adoration as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Lord’s Body and Blood (traditionally known as Corpus Christi Sunday). Weather permitting, we’ll have adoration in front of the parish rectory. In case of inclement weather, we’ll have the afternoon adoration in the church.

Be assured of our prayerful best wishes for you and your loved ones!

Yours in the Risen Lord,

Fr. Gurnick
