This weekend marks an exciting milestone in our St. Patrick-St. Malachi Collaboration initiative as the decisions from our Collaboration Steering Committee are shared. These decisions accompanied the letter requesting that Bishop Malesic formally moves forward in decreeing St. Malachi to become an oratory with St. Patrick as the sponsoring parish (ie. “The Collaborative”).
With sincere gratitude to our 70+ participants from both parishes, each of our Working Groups submitted recommendations to the Steering Committee in late June. These were reviewed by parish leadership groups. On August 10, the Collaboration Steering Committee (CSC) reached decisions through consensus. Those decisions are available below or in hard copy at the doors of the church.
Later this month I will be joined by our two co-chairs of the Collaboration Steering Committee, Pat Masterson (St. Malachi) and Stephanie Williams (St. Patrick) as we personally meet with Bishop Malesic to discuss what we are presenting.
As for the actual time-line, it’s too soon to tell when any official change will occur. However, while we await the bishop’s official Decree there is plenty to do in the implementation phase of this initiative, including the formation of new commissions and committees. We warmly invite you to submit questions to parishcollaboration44113@stpatrickbridge.org.
May we continue to rely on the intercession of Mary, Mother of the Church, St. Patrick and St. Malachi as we approach this new chapter.
Faithfully yours in Christ,
Fr. Gurnick
