Dear Friends and Parishioners,
As you know, this weekend we’ve adjusted our liturgy schedule due to the annual Cleveland Marathon. With 8:30am Mass cancelled, I hope you were able to be accommodated at the Saturday 4:30pm Vigil or the 11:00am Sunday Mass. Your patience is greatly appreciated. May those who are participating in the marathon enjoy safety and success! I’d like to take this opportunity to address a couple of adjustments regarding our summer liturgies.
First, because of low viewership as folks return to Mass since Covid, we’ve made the decision that livestreaming will no longer be conducted at the 8:30am Sunday Mass, effective immediately. I am personally grateful to the dedicated team members who offered their services to livestream nearly every Sunday since May 2020! Our First Friday team members, among others involved in Eucharistic ministry, remain committed to those who are homebound or residents of long-term care facilities. If you or a loved one would like a pastoral visit, please call the parish office for more information.
Additionally, all of our summer weekend liturgies will be celebrated inside the church, with the exception of our Parish Picnic in August. We originally brought Mass and other celebrations outdoors to accommodate social distancing and the usage of facial masks in 2020. Since these practices are no longer the norm, we will return to the regular habit of indoor liturgies.
Finally, I want to thank our Fellowship Committee for their continued commitment to providing hospitality in the Lower Hall after each of our weekend Masses. We are, however, in need of additional core members and other volunteers to provide this service to the parish community. Perhaps you, your family, or your friends, would like to host one of the weekends during the year? If so, please let us know by contacting the parish office.
While traveling this summer be sure to check out masstimes.org and locate a local Catholic parish as you find yourself in a new town. And, as always, thanks for your prayerful and practical support of Saint Patrick while on the road.
Gratefully yours in Christ,
Fr. Gurnick
