For many years, a small group of parish volunteers has spent a couple hours each Saturday afternoon at Franklin Plaza Nursing Home, visiting residents in their rooms, praying with them, and distributing Communion. Residents are also invited to gather in the dining room for a simple service involving reading the weekend Scriptures, prayer, and distribution of Communion.
Our parishioners have visited the nursing home to distribute ashes on Ash Wednesday, and have joined in fellowship with members of other area churches to provide a modest Thanksgiving and a Christmas celebration. At Christmas, the parish has also provided gifts of personal hygiene supplies and winter wear for residents who might need these things.
