What is your favorite verse from the Christmas readings?

Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord, 25 December 2020

In today’s reflection, Waiting in Joyful Hope author Michelle Francl-Donnay reflects on Luke 2:9a, singing the Litany of the Saints, the conclusion of St. Methodius of Olympus’ “Oration on Simeon and Anna,” and the Word that breaks the silence.

In the comments section below, share your own response to today’s scripture (vigil or night or dawn or day), Francl-Donnay’s reflection, or the accompanying meditation prompt.

  1. That is a hard question. Two verses: Luke 2: 10,11 “The angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a Savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.”

  2. God missed us. God came from heaven to walk with us again. He wanted us back. He’d been trying for centuries to help us redeem ourselves. But we were so far gone, He had to do it Himself. He rose from the dead. I’ll write it again: He rose from the dead! What have we to fear? Nothing! We are are a part of Him and He is a part of us. We still have to live, bear our burdens, feel our grief. But now we KNOW we are not alone. We KNOW it doesn’t end here. He will come again and we will abide with Him forever! Come Lord Jesus!
